Let's Play Dress-Up!

bookcover
Author: Tim Wadham

How do you feel when you wake up?  Royal?  Rose is a precocious little girl who plays dress-up and imagines she is the Queen of France, interacting with her royal subjects --- her mom and dad.  I highly recommend this picture book for kids who love to dress-up and imagine themselves in other roles.  When Rose's mom agrees to permanantly trade Rose for the Queen things get a little more real for Rose who then wakes up the next morning in a much different mood.  This is a 5 star picture book .... don't miss it!

When Kate and Ben move into their new home they are not thrilled with the crooked apple tree in their backyard. Over the course of four seasons, they discover that they can incorporate the tree into their play and that the tree really has a lot to offer. Wisely, Dad has been taking photographs of the tree and the kids through all the seasons. They celebrate the tree with a scrapbook and realize that their first assessment of the tree was incorrect and hasty!

Title: My Garden
Author: Kevin Henkes

No weeding!  Only chocolate rabbits! A jelly bean bush!  This really is a dream-come-true!  Henkes is the master of simple text and beautiful illustrations.  Just like Kitten's First Full Moon, My Garden will be a huge hit in story time.  It is a terrific way to show kids how using their imaginations can be so much fun.
