Author: Janette Rallison

Eighteen year old Lexi lives in a small town in West Virginia and discovers that she has a look - a -like that is a famous pop star, and she is offered the opportunity of a lifetime, to become her body double.

I really liked this book.  It's funny, romantic, and serious all in one.  I will definately read other books written by this author - I like her style!

Title: Shiver
Author: Maggie Stiefvater

The book begins with a young girl named Grace describing how she was bitten and almost killed by wolves and how one wolf saved her. Grace felt a special connection with the wolf and would wait and watch for him in the woods near her home. She always sited him in the winter and he would vanish in the summer months leaving her feel all alone. One of her classmates, Jack, was allegedly killed by wolves and the men from town were determined to kill the whole pack. Grace was worried about her special wolf and tried to stop them. The men left and as she returned to her home she spotted a shape leaning by her back door and she smelled her wolf. When she got close she found out that it wasn’t a wolf but a boy that was injured. He had yellow eyes. Could this be her wolf? Take this journey, read the book and you won’t be disappointed. This book is about werewolves, friendships, shape-shifting and even a bit of romance.

Author: James Patterson

Whit and Wisty Allgood are taken from their home in the middle of the night and tossed into prison, and accused of being a witch and a wizard by a ruling regime and this is their suspenseful account of what is happening to them and other kids. I couldn’t put this book down. James Patterson is an excellent writer that knows how to keep your attention.

Author: Michael Spradlin

Tristan was left as a baby at a monastery, and he has spent the last 14 years working with gentle monks. The little that is known about him indicates he may be of noble birth. The monks have taught Tristan to be a hard worker. Sir Thomas and a group of Knights Templar arrived at the monastery to rest on their journey to the Holy Land and Sir Thomas makes Tristan his squire. There is much adventure, battles and ambushes. I couldn’t put this book down and I can hardly wait for the second book which will be available shortly.

Boot Camp

Title: Boot Camp
Author: Todd Strasser

After ignoring several warnings to stop dating his teacher(she is 8 years older), Garrett is sent to Lake Harmony, a boot camp that uses brutal and unusual methods to train students to obey their parents. He won't be allowed to leave until he admits his mistakes and repents completely whether he's guilty or not. Garrett is abused almost to breaking point when he hears of an escape plot. This is a very suspenseful book to read and explore the idea of being taken right in front of your own house by strangers that have your parents permission! What would you do?

Author: Neil Gaiman

This is a story about a boy named Nobody Owens--mostly called Bod by friends. When bod was just a toddler a man named Jack murdered his parents and older sister. The killer left the front door open and bod wandered off and he ended up at a graveyard where the ghosts and other supernatural residents agreed to raise him and keep him safe from Jack. There are many dangers and adventures in the graveyard but if Bod leaves the graveyard jack will attack him. This is a great adventure. Read this book to learn how Bod prepares himself for the future.

Sara Goldman is a 12-year-old, seventh grade student, whose artistic talent has earned her the opportunity to study art in New York. Her father is an architect that has always encouraged her imagination and he shares with her and her neighborhood friends and schoolmate stories about his past and the war. Many of her drawings come from the characters her father describes in the stories and she wants to listen to them even though there is a black side to his memories. Her father becomes more and more sad and withdrawn as he shares them with her. Her mother forbids her to listen to his tales, as she is afraid that he will withdraw from reality forever. Sara begins to sort through his childhood and discover the truth of his past. I really liked this book because it shows how much Sara loves her family, some of her struggles at school, how much she loves to express herself in her art and how they encourage her in her choice to be an artist.

Author: Joyce Carol Oates

Matt Donaghy has always had a big mouth but it never got him into trouble until the day he is accused of threatening to blow up Rocky River High.  Ursula Riggs has always been Ugly Girl and a loner.  Ursula is the only person who knows what Matt really said that day, and she is the only one that can help him.  This book deals with things that we hear of in the news.  The trouble Matt gets himself into because of something he said is really kind of scary.  Do you know someone like Matt or Ursula at your school? Have you ever said something that you didn’t mean-just as a joke?  This book really kept my interest!
