boarding school

Author: Stephanie Kuehn

This heart breaker of a book is riveting. I read it in two days! I just could not put it down.

For the protagonist 'Drew/Win', growing into adulthood is ripping him apart both physically and mentally. The author slowly gives you all of these clues about why. At first I thought I might be reading a fantasy. I mean, exactly why is this poor kid vomiting all the time? Well, you find out it is with good reason.

The teen years are confusing enough without the baggage that this character is carrying. I loved how the characters of Lex & Jordan rallied and came to his aid. I also liked how the terms of atomic science were interwoven into this book.

This line was pure poetry and repeated twice in the book: "I don't feel the presence of God here".

Congrats on this debut!

Jenny Humphry gets booted from the prestigious Constance Billard only to be excepted by the elite Waverly Academy Boarding School. She is determined to be the 'New Jenny' by becoming the IT GIRL.

I know it is a short summary but the book has a lot of important details, and if they're said you won't need to read the book.

I recommend this book to all TEENS because it shows that everyone sees themselves different than everybody else. (If anyone understood that!)

Author: Daisy Whitney

This is about a fntastic story about over coming your fears. Alex goes to a boarding school called themis academy. She was date-raped one night and has to live will the that feeling of losing what she had, to someone she never knew. This book is great!! I couldn't put it down. This writer is a GENUIS!!!!

Title: Posh
Author: Lucy Jackson

Set in the private school world of Manhattan's Upper East Side, POSH tracks the lives of a group of teenagers and the adults who hope to control them: from the school's headmistress to the social x-ray mom to the mom who drives a cab, this is commercial fiction that shows a cutaway of a rarefied world.

This book took me so long to get into, I think even at the end I wasn't really interested. It had some good parts but it's not really my favorite book. I was angry a lot at the way these people acted. I gave this book 2 out of 5 stars. The cover and info section of the book grabbed my attention, but the inside of the book was lacking.

Author: John Green

Before. Miles' whole life has been one big non-event. Then he heads off to the sometimes crazy Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed-up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young pulls Miles into her world, launches him into a new life, and steals his heart. After. Nothing is ever the same.

I loved this book. Alaska is so funny and serious all the time. I cried a lot in this book. Most of the second half, to be honest. I gave this book 5 out or 5 stars. This is one of those books I could read multiple times and not get bored.

Hex Hall

Title: Hex Hall
Author: Rachel Hawkins

This book was really fun to read. At first it started off kind of slow, but it got really suspenseful. This book is about Sophie Mercer, a teenage witch, who gets sent to Hecate Hall (aka Hex Hall) after a mistake in a spell. She becomes roommates with a vampire, and soon she meets 3 girls who wants her to join their clan, and a cute boy that's a warlock. Later Sophie finds out that her powers are incredibly strong and people will kill her for her powers. But in the end, everything is not what it seems.

Author: Melina Marchetta

This was a pretty good book. It is told by Taylor Markham, who is chosen to lead her house at the Jellicoe School. Her job as a leader is to have territory wars with the townies and cadets. They fight over land, and somehow Chaz Santangelo, Jonah Griggs, Talor, and her friend Raffy all start a friendship. I recommend this book to anyone!

Author: Julie Bowie

My Last Best Friend is an excellent book. When Ida's best friend moves away, she doesn't have any friends. She pretends to be friends with Jena when she is in front of her mom. When Stacey Merriweather moves to Purdee, WI, Ida finds another true friend. I recommend this book if you want to discover yourself in another way.

Title: Bullyville
Author: Francine Prose

Interesting YA book about what it is like to attend a boarding school, during the day, where bullying is rampant. Tied into the story is a reflection on 9/11 because the protagonist's father died in the Twin Towers. The boy is grappling with the loss of his dad, trying to get along with his mom, and coming of age. There is a very good twist in the book that I did not see coming. This is abook about sorting it all out and being a good person.
