You can be, just by reading this book! This book takes you in and holds you untill its done! This is just one of my favorite reads!
What if all your wishes could come true? Blink your eyes, drink a fizzing pink potion, and poof! Life is perfect. That’s Rachel’s (the main character)situation. Except she’s not the one who suddenly has magical powers. Her younger sister is. And as Rachel would tell you, spellbooks are wasted on the young!
Yes, yes, of course world peace and cures for horrible diseases are important. But so is dancing without looking like she’s being electrocuted, winning back her best friend, stopping her dad’s wedding, and finding a date for Spring Fling.
But can one non-witch do that yet??? Find out in the first book of Magic in Manhatten if all of Rachel's wishes come true without the help of magic.

Rachel Morgan, kick-butt witch and bounty hunter, has taken her fair share of hits, and has broken lines she swore she would never cross. But when her lover was murdered, it left a deeper wound than Rachel ever imagined, and now she won't rest until his death is solved . . . and avenged. Whatever the cost. This book is so sad, sadder than the others because to me it feels like Rachel and Ivy (while they've cracked the case) are losing it. The farther into the series I get the more worried I am. Rachel's been shunned, called a black witch, and she's even a bit of a demon. Pierce is pretty adorable though. 5/5 stars, I hope Rache and Ivy aren't going nuts, but I won't keep my hopes up, because there's always that possibility.

As Rachel hunts for the truth behind a terrifying murder, the discovery of a shocking family secret is about to throw her entire life into question. And the long-lost ancient knowledge she seeks resides in the demonic ever-after. Rachel is always doing things she'll regret later, will she ever learn? A lot of this book is spent in the ever-after and on the edge of your seat. Big surprises in this one! It's really good, nobody dies for once. 4/5 just because.

A fiendish serial killer stalks the Hollows, claiming victims across society, and the resulting terror ignites a vicious Inderland gang war. And while the ancient artifact Rachel is hiding may be the key to stopping the murderer, revealing it could also create a battle to the death among the numerous supernatural races that live in and around Cincinnati. For every action has its price, and when the vampire master Piscary is set free and the demonic Algaliarept dares to walk openly under the sun, even Rachel Morgan can't hide forever. This book was good in the beginning, but what happens after Piscary is let loose make's me sad and angry. 3/5 stars, just because Kisten died. I like him a lot.

Now a mortal lover who abandoned Rachel has returned, haunted by his secret past. And there are those who covet what Nick possesses -- savage beasts willing to destroy the Hollows and everyone in it if necessary.Forced to keep a low profile or eternally suffer the wrath of a vengeful demon, Rachel must nevertheless act quickly. For the pack is gathering for the first time in a long time to ravage and to rule. And suddenly more than Rachel's soul is at stake. I love Kim Harrison's books, she a fabulous author and I could read about Rachel Morgan and her friends all day long. I give this book 4/5 stars, because at times the book is just slow, but otherwise the plots really thought out.

Most people have heard of Harry Potter. The majority of people have seen the movies. Quite a few people have read the books. Yet, because of certain "dark" content, Christians began to degrade the well written book series. Yes, some parts of the books are "dark". Yes, there are some things in there that, from a Christian worldview, may not be entirely agreeable. But you need darkness to see the light more clearly. The light at the end of the tunnel for J.K. Rowling's beloved series is book seven, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. After I finished the book for the first time this last September, I sighed with content. As a Christian, I couldn't have asked for a better or more clear allegory of what I believe to be Truth. I feel that Christians should read the entire series before making any judgement on content; Ms. Rowling knew what she was doing when she put the elements of a story into her fabulous, well rounded characters. I have not yet seen the movies, but am going to soon. My hope is that they capture the kind of values and core elements that are so preciously captured throughout the Harry Potter series. Really, I think everybody should read these books with an open mind and learn what they can. Even if you don't agree with everything, the experience will be worth your time.

Before I review this I want to let everyone know that although this book has young adult content I'm not sure the rest of the series will considering people review it as a mix of Stephanie and Anita and since Anita Blake is an adult series I just don't know. Rachel Morgan is an agent that goes after preternatural criminals until she is fed up with her living-vampire boss. Ivy, a born living-vamp, Jenks, a pixy, and Rachel, a witch have all left the IS, and the only one with a bounty on her head is Rachel. She figures if she can turn in Trent, a well known councilmen, for running Brimstone, a serious Hallows drug, she could get the bounty paid off and become a free witch, but when she turns herself into an animal to sneak into Trent's office she'll learn some things she's not sure she's comfortable knowing. I gave this book 5/5 stars. It's one of my new favorite series'. I love how wacky Rachel, Ivy, and Jenks are. This book is crazy, fun, and exciting.
